This website is based on the thesis of Steven Mc Morrow, whilst studying for a degree on Spatial Planning and Environmental Management.
The thesis focused on a protected areas inventory database which allowed users to check if an area qualified for protection under environmental legislation based on its habitat type or species located there in.
The website has now been updated to assist in –
- Phase 1 Habitat surveys.
- Preliminary impact assessments of proposed developments under Article 6 of the Habitats Directive.
- Maintenance and development of Natura 2000 sites.
- Provides information for use in management plans of any ecological area.
- Provides information for site monitoring which is required to assess the current effectiveness of a site.
